Our Market Story Cart

The Our Market Story Cart is a multimedia cart designed by artist Michelle Angela Ortiz and inspired by the 9th Street Market’s original push carts. The cart is a tool to collect stories along different sites in the Market, from butcher shops to produce stands. The cart includes a screen with audio to share community stories, a map of the Market, and equipment to collect video and audio of Market stories. The cart was fabricated by Breck Brunson and Haley Tricycles.

The cart will be stationed on select Saturdays from June through July. We invite the community to share their Market story by visiting the Our Market Story Cart on select Saturdays. Market stories will be added to our growing Our Market open-source digital archive created to expand the narrative of all the people that contribute to the 9th Street Market, one of the oldest outdoor markets in the United States.
